United Way’s yearly kickball game

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week is United Way’s kickoff week for their annual campaign and today it continued with a kick ball game for children at the Fieldhouse.
Yesterday campaign week began with a formal breakfast. United Way executive director Meg Deedrick said Wednesday’s kickball game was more about relaxation and having a good time.
“We are kicking off our annual campaign and we are able to fight for the health and education and finical stability of every person in every community we serve because we raise this money throughout the year. And then invite people in for these wonderful events,†said Deedrick.
This was the third year that the United Way has held their kickball game. Deedrick said children with all types of ability were able to get out on the field and enjoy some competition.
“The kids come from all of our partners. We’ve got kids with all different abilities in this game. Some are visually impaired, so have limbs that aren’t fully formed. But they all have on thing in common and that is they all are having a really good time,†said Deedrick.
United Way’s kickoff week continues this Friday with a workday in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.
