Lost Band Members Honored at Football Game
The Morgan Raiders took on Maysville at the home of the panthers. It was the band’s first night on the field without four band members.
Two were lost in a tragic car accident just last week, while two others suffered major injuries. From the moment you entered the gate you saw the color for hope, on the feild, and in the hearts of players, performers, and friends in the stands. Morgan Head Football Coach Derek Bragg says the night was for Donald and Hannah who were both taken too soon.
“As long as we can stick together and just go out there and play 100 percent all the time not take any plays off and just play for them kids,” said Bragg. “There not here anymore so maybe we can help keep their memory alive.”
The Maysville band began the night with the national anthem and Morgan High School’s Alma Mater to show support for the Raiders and Morgan’s Band Director, a Maysville Alumnus. Green balloons were released and a moment of silence was observed for the teens lost in the crash. Maysville Band Director Patrick Murphy said tragedies like this one can change your perspective.
“It could happen anywhere and it just makes you step back and reevaluate everything that you do always,” said Murphy. “You just look at everything differently.”
A raffle was also held to raise money for those families dealing with the aftermath of the accident.
