11th Annual Farm Show in Dresden
This weekend, area kids will get the chance to experience a day in the life of a farmer.
The 11th annual “Country Crossroads, Education of Yesterday” Farm Show is this coming Saturday and Sunday in Dresden. Spokesperson, Kendra Hindel, said with the innovation of technology, kids today may never get to experience the way things were done in the old days. From shelling corn, to making hay bales, kids will be able to discover the country crossroads in a whole new way.
“Our purpose is to preserve old machinery, anything antique and to show the children of today how yesterday was,” Hindel said. “The kids are going to be exposed to the old machinery, working in the fields, cutting the corn, the soybeans, we try to do the hay, we also thresh the corn.”
There will also be train rides and a petting zoo on site for the kids to enjoy. Saturday’s festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a 5K cross country race and registration is just $25. The day will cap off with a country concert featuring Newark native, Bryan Lewis, at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $5 to $10.
“We’ve got the Dresden Fire Department coming out with farm and fire safety, it is fire safety month, so we have booth for that, at 11 o’clock there is a tug pool going on, so hopefully it is a nice day,” Hindel said.
Again, the farm show is this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5, at Captain Bryant’s Grist Mill at the intersection of State Route 16 and State Route 60 in Dresden. General admission is free.
