Fall Safety Education Days Coming Up
OUZ and Zane State Plan to host their Fall Safety Days.
The event will feature four different programs taking place between Monday October 19th and Tuesday October 20th in the campus center conference rooms. The first presentation on Monday from 10-11 a.m will be given by criminal justice advocate, Dorothy Thomas, focusing on support programs for those who are victims of domestic violence and from 2-3 p.m New Concord Police Chief, Trevor Hayes, will be giving a lecture on internet safety.
“This is an annual event that we do to help reinforce safety issues that could possibly come about to our campus. It’s a free event, the community is welcome and what we do is we just sit down and do some lectures on how to be safe in the community and on campus” Public Safety Officer Dwight Gildow told us.
On Tuesday Dr. James Kemper will be giving a discussion on Title IX compliance training from 9 a.m- to 10. Title IX is the law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in any federally funded education program. To follow, a detective from the Zanesville Police Department will discuss workplace violence and how to handle various situations such as a disgruntled employee.
“I expect a really good turnout this year. Years past have been very well received with the community and campus community so I’m looking forward to another great year” Gildow said.
There is no pre-registration and Fall Safety Days are free to the public and the whole community is encouraged to attend.
