Zanesville, Ohio-  The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is offering flights at the Zanesville Municipal Airport from September 23rd to 25th in one of the original B17 World War 2 aircrafts.

Flights are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and there will also be ground tours of the aircraft from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Tom Ewing, Volunteer Co-Pilot, said that it’s truly a once in a lifetime experience.

“We fly this plane as a tribute to those heroes that risked their lives and sacrificed so much in World War 2 for all of us.”

Frank Girman, 93-year-old World War 2 veteran was one of the head engineers for the B17’s back in World War 2.

On Thursday, Girman finally gets the opportunity to get back into the skies.

“I’m happy about it, I actually tried to fly on one before, but they didn’t have enough people for the flight,” said Girman.  “It’s going to be an experience.  I don’t know what to quite make up of it and go back fifty, sixty years.”
