Kids Experience Country Crossroads

Area kids got the chance to discover the country crossroads in a whole new way.

With the new developments of technology, the “Education of Yesterday” farm show aims to teach the younger generation how things were done in the past. From pulling tractors to harvesting soybeans…there were plenty of educational activities on-site for the kids to enjoy.

“They’ve got the tug pull going on, which is like an old-fashioned tug pull with the old tractors and the sled,” said Coordinator, Jody Little. “We’ve got the two tractor rides, James and little toot for the kids, and there’s a hay maze and a hay slide, and we’ve got a couple little games for the kids.”

After the passing of her father, Kenny Moore, Little said her family wanted to honor his legacy by continuing the event he started 11 years ago. She told us it was important to her father to preserve and restore old farm machinery to educate today’s youth.

“He was always interested in the old tractors and educating everybody on that, especially the kids because they don’t see this everyday, we lost dad three years ago to cancer, and this is something that we’re going to keep doing,” Little said.

The event continues Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5, at Captain Bryant’s Grist Mill in Dresden. Admission is free, but they do ask for a small donation to help keep the tradition going.
