House fire destroys a family’s home and claims the life of the family’s pet

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A family is in mourning after a fire destroyed their home and claimed the life of one of their pets.

This is what’s left of the house that’s located on 1330 Lewis Drive. Zanesville Fire Department responded to reports of a kitchen fire just after 4:30 Monday morning. After fire fighters arrived on the scene, Chief Eric Waltemire said it took them about 20 minutes to contain the fire. Chief Waltemire said the fire appears to be accidental. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The investigation is still on going. Also assisting on the scene was Community Ambulance. Chief Waltemire estimated the home sustained at least $25,000 in damages.
