Eastside and Springleaf Partner for Food and Toy Drive

The ultimate savings deposit is feeding the hungry and giving to those who are less fortunate, and with Thanksgiving nearing, it’s a perfect opportunity to give back.

Two local organizations are working together to do something special for the community. Eastside Community Ministry partnered with Springleaf Financial Services to have a food and toy drive. The drive will go from November 2nd until November 30th. We spoke with the branch manager of Springleaf, Myra Evans who explained why it’s important to them to do this for the community.

“It’s wonderful, because there is a lot of need,” Evans said. “You think of so many children without food and so many adults without food, and we have a lot of people that we see that need because the older people don’t have a program like the children do. So it’s nice to be able to help the community.”

We also spoke to the Executive Director from Eastside Community Ministry, Jamie Trout who explained what food items the organization needs most.

“We’re always in high demand for bread, eggs and the refrigerated things we don’t get often,” Trout said. “A lot of people donate canned goods, which are needed as well. Peanut butter and tuna, any type of protein is needed.”

If you would like to donate food, there will be drop off boxes at City Car Company, Treadway Honda, Fink’s Quality Cars, Arnold’s Used Cars, Michael’s Motors, Dutro Outlet, Fergie’s Auto Sales and Bates Auto. In order to drop off toys, you can head down to Maysville Pike to the Springleaf local office.
