State Patrol Urges Safe Driving This Halloween
With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding party-goers to drive sober.
Lieutenant Matt Boyd of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said nearly one in three adults will attend a Halloween party this year. Whether you’re attending a party, or trick-or-treating, the patrol is encouraging adults and children to play it safe. State troopers will be out in full force this holiday weekend cracking down on impaired motorists.
“We hope that people are mindful of the safety precautions they need to take, and we continually stress to people not to drive impaired, but it’s particularly important this weekend with the children who will out and about on the streets and in our communities,” Boyd said.
Several local communities have trick-or-treat scheduled for this Saturday, including Dresden and Frazeysburg. As those ghouls, goblins, and ghosts take to the streets in the search of candy, Boyd said motorists should use extra caution, and be alert of pedestrians crossing streets.
“We just ask that drivers pay special attention, there’s going to be a lot of these kids out, they’re not going to be particularly thinking about motor vehicle traffic,” Boyd said.
As always, if you plan to consume alcohol this Halloween, it is encouraged to designate a driver, or make other travel arrangements.
