Library increases e-book collection

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Muskingum County Library System is expanding it’s e-book collection.
John McIntire Library Assistant Director, Blair Tom said last year the library was a part of consortium collection, now the library is transitioning to an independent collection.
“We can more effectively address customer needs and holds, with a shared collection our customers were waiting longer,” Tom said. “But it did take awhile to develop. Our most recent statistics show that last month over 8300 items were downloaded.”
Tom said the most use genres are fiction, romance, mystery/suspense.
“We’re seeing a high use of audio books, downloading that collection. In a meeting yesterday we focused in on continuing to developing the collection so that customers have more selections. Early on there wasn’t the variety that customers were used to. But with the timely response and now building the collection we’ve seen an increase in use,” Tom said.
