ZANESVILLE, Ohio - The Zanesville Kiwanis Club will hold their annual peanut fundraiser this weekend at local grocery stores.

Kiwanis is a public service organization that raises money for public support projects. Secretary, Kevin Pinson, says this is their most profitable fundraiser every year.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We typically generate over $16,000 from our peanut sale, which we put back into the community. We do several projects such as a Christmas party for low income children. We build wheelchair ramps for people who can’t afford them, and numerous other projects as well,” said Pinson.

Members of Kiwanis will be at Riesbeck’s and Wal-Mart on Friday and Saturday asking for donations in exchange for peanuts.

They also work with four local high school key clubs, and those members will be helping out this weekend as well.

“We have four local high school’s we sponsor, key clubs. Those high schoolers will be out helping us as well. They do their own community projects, and we support them by sending them to Kiwanis International,” said Pinson.

Be sure to help out a great organization this weekend, and buy some peanuts!
