Motorcyclists Give to Children in Need
Area motorcyclists will ride in holiday style Saturday to support local children in need.
Rushing Wind Biker Church will host its 19th annual “Motorcyclists for Kids, Toy Ride,” where dozens of motorcyclists come together to raise money and collect toys for the Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign. Pastor, Michael McGuire, said the church puts on the event to give underprivileged children in Muskingum County a Christmas they may not otherwise get.
“It’s a great event, Santa’s going to be there, and we’re looking forward to a lot of children coming, the Salvation Army will there with their kettles, and lots of motorcycles in the Colony Square Mall,” McGuire said.
Registration is from 1 to 2 p.m. at Colony Square Mall, with a public bike judging and blessing to follow. It’s $10 to participate, or bikers can donate an unwrapped toy of equal value. Program director at the Salvation Army, Dustin Redmond, said this event is “all about the kids.”
“Different motorcycle ministries and clubs come together as one, in unity, and no matter differences they have, on this day, they come together and they know that it’s all about the kids,” Redmond said.
The event will conclude with a parade to the Salvation Army, where there will be lunch and door prizes.
