Two Men Arrested in Drug Bust
Two men are now in custody following a three-month long investigation into heroin and prescription drug trafficking, also including meth and oxycodone.
Muskingum County Sheriff, Matt Lutz, said on November 3, the Muskingum County/Zanesville City Joint Drug Task Force, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, and all members of the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested 37-year-old Jeremy E. Wilson of Corning, and 24-year-old Cory R. Christian of Zanesville, in connection with a drug investigation and operation that started in Zanesville and crossed over county lines into Crooksville.
Lutz said as a result of the investigation, authorities seized heroin, methamphetamine, oxycodone, five handguns, including one stolen, one vehicle, and U.S. currency.
Perry County Sheriff, William Barker, said a lot of time and effort goes into getting these drug dealers off of the street.
“Our goal is to get whoever is out there dealing any type of illicit drugs, or abusing anything that they shouldn’t be,” Barker said.
Lutz said both men are facing multiple felony charges. Wilson has been charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs, one which carries a juvenile specification, two counts of possession of drugs and one count of receiving stolen property. Christian has been charged with one count of trafficking in drugs, two counts of possession of drugs, both which carry a firearm specification, one count of tampering with evidence, having weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, and three counts of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
“I can tell you that Mr. Wilson had no criminal background, no criminal history, Mr. Christian had various drug charges and weapon charges,” Lutz said.
If convicted, Christian and Wilson could face multiple years behind bars. Both men are being held in the Zanesville City Jail. Wilson is being held on $50,000 bond, and Christian on $200,000.
Lutz said the investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are possible. Anyone with any information regarding drug trafficking, or other crimes are asked to contact the drug tip lines, at (740)-455-7917 and (740)-455-0712.
