Guest Speaker talks about the Heroin and Opiate Epidemic
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tonight a guest speaker told about the true tales of America’s opiate epidemic.
Local organizations joined together to have Sam Quinones speak about the heroin epidemic in the world. Quinones studied and followed the drug trade from Mexico and into Portsmouth, Ohio and realized the true epidemic wasn’t caused by the traffickers.
What had really caused this was basically not traffickers themselves, Â but in fact doctors prescribing opiate pain killers as if they were you know non-addictive. Â 13
Secrest Auditorium was filled with interested viewers and community organizations that supported this event. Quinones’s message regarding heroin and opiate addiction was not to be ashamed and speak out about this problem.
The truth is you need to be out there fighting you need to be out there as part of a community working on it and it helps you it helps your country it helps your community but it also helps you to just be away from the isolation 15
