Elmer A. Elekes , 94 of Apopka, Florida formerly of Martin’s Ferry, Ohio died at 5:00 AM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 surrounded by family and under the loving care of hospice.
He was born on Wednesday, August 9, 1922 in Martin’s Ferry the son of Moses and Katie Riggo Elekes.
Elmer was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Altamonte Springs Florida, and a WWII Navy Veteran. He along with his wife owned & operated the Lamplighter Restaurant and Lounge in Martin’s Ferry. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, story teller & loved music, especially classical.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy (L.T.) Kerns of Zanesville & Beverly (Mark) LaMotte of Longwood Florida; two granddaughters; Courtney (Hunter) Huffman and Lindsay LaMotte; and two great grandsons, Ty Smith and Cam Huffman; several nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Elmer was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his wife of 68 years, Agnes George Elekes and several brothers & sisters.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Saturday Oct. 15th at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
