Charges Filed in Incident that Led to School Lockdowns

Charges have been filed against six people who police said were involved in a fight that led to shots being fired on Seborn Avenue in Zanesville Tuesday afternoon.

Two area schools and a daycare center were temporarily placed on lockdown Tuesday, as Zanesville Police Chief Kenneth Miller said officers responded to 727 Seborn Avenue around noon for reports of shots being fired. He said five of the six suspects were arrested near the scene and an air soft gun and other firearms were recovered. He said 19-year-old Austin E. Dennis is facing charges of aggravated menacing, inducing panic, discharging a firearm inside city limits, and obstructing official business. Bo Allen Paynter, 19, has been charged with aggravated menacing, inducing panic, resisting arrest, and violation of TPO. Anna Mae Carter, 24, has been charged with aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Keyon Thorpe, 18, has also been charged with aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

“It was an ongoing dispute, brought on by comments made on social media, I believe taunting back and forth, and some of them went over to the Seborn address and the confrontation started and there were threats made,” Miller said.

A 17-year-old juvenile, whose name is not being released, has been charged with complicity to aggravated menacing and resisting arrest. On Wednesday, Zanesville police summoned a sixth suspect, Ann Marie Creech, 28, who is facing obstructing official business and disorderly conduct charges. All six subjects are currently being held in the Zanesville City Jail.
