ZANESVILLE, OHIO- The State Highway Patrol received a call around 10:35 a.m. Thursday morning about a vehicle in the Muskingum river.

“We located a vehicle upside down in the river just south state route 555 and we got another call that the driver was at his residence down the road,” said Lieutenant Matt Boyd, Zanesville Post, Ohio State Highway Patrol.  Boyd said that the driver was able to get out of his vehicle on his own and suffered minor injuries.

“He was coming down the road, the roadway was a little wet at the time and went off the side of the roadway, down over the embankment and the vehicle rolled upside down into the river.”

Highway Patrol and Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department were the first responders to the scene.
