Former OSU Player Takes his Talents to the Community
A former Ohio State Buckeye is taking his talents back to the grid-iron but, this time in a different way.
James Cotton joined other former Buckeyes at the Colony Square mall today to raise money for the OSU football camp for children with special needs and underprivileged children.
“During the winter times and the fall times this is an opportunity for us to do a fundraiser. With the football camps we do a camp a couple different separate camps; such as the kids with special needs obviously don’t camp with regular kids so there is a difference. So we have a camp for kids with autism, down syndrome, muscular dystrophy then we have a camp for under privileged kids,” said Cotton.
Cotton said he has always had a soft spot for needy children.
“It’s important because we don’t have any other out-side funding. It’s always has been a passion of mine because, I grew up as an under privileged kid in the inner-city of Cleveland. So for me to come out here during the holiday season and just get the support from the community is very flattering and greatly appreciated,” said Cotton.
The camp is free for all children, and all of the proceeds from this fundraiser go toward the camp.
