The Perfect Time for Students to Take the First Step Toward College

ZANESVILLE, OH – As we enter into summer, now is the perfect time for prospective college students to start thinking about their next steps.

Regardless if you’re a new student, transfer student, or adult student looking to get back into the classroom, the first step is to apply with the Admissions Office.

Heather Sands, the Manager of Campus Communications and External Relations with Ohio University Zanesville, says this is the most important thing you can do if you’re wanting to get your foot in the door.

She said OUZ has many resources available if you have any questions, because this can sometimes be a daunting process.

“We have some great people from Undergraduate Admissions in Athens that will help you and they can travel to Zanesville to our Zanesville Campus to assist you with the process for anything you need,” Sands said. “From sending your transcripts, to filling out the FAFSA, your Free Application for Federal Student Aid, looking for scholarships and anything and everything related to enrolling for fall semester.”

Sands said it’s important to look and try to plan ahead for the future as the job market changes.

She said it can be a scary time for some students but there are people ready and willing to help at OUZ.

“We have a Career Development Coordinator that helps with all of the career related activities and in fact, if you go on our website, she’s hosting different jobs search activities online that are virtual that will help Bobcats figure out their next step,” Sand said. “Figure out when you graduate, what job in the market you would like to pursue and so there’s tons of staff. Even though it’s Summer, our staff is working all Summer long for you to prepare for the fall semester.”
