Funds to Combat Alcohol and Drug Misuse
Coshocton County along with eight other rural counties in Ohio receive funds to help prevent underage drinking and reduce the misuse of prescription drugs among young people.
In a press release the State’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services said each county will be awarded $80,000 to address alcohol use among people age 12 to 20 and prescription drug misuse or abuse among people 12 to 25.
The Director of OhioMHAS Tracy Plouck said the initiative would, “lead to an increased use of evidence-based programs, practices, policies and strategies to ensure that Ohio’s rural and Appalachian populations have equitable access to culturally competent prevention services.”
Grant funds may be renewable up to two additional years, dependent on the availability of federal funds and on demonstrated progress toward outcomes.
