Woman awarded for 60 years of Membership

A local woman was honored today October 27, 206 for being apart of the Eastern Star organization for 60 years.
Order of the Eastern Star is a national organization that is known for helping with local charity profits. Eastern Star member, Martha Purkey said Letha Minnich has been a member for 60 years this next month.
“I was trying to get pins out to people, especially people who were 60 plus year members,” said Purkey. “[I] never could find her until I came back here and found her and so I thought I have got to award this pin to her for being a sixty plus year member.”
Worthy Matron, Sherry Angelo, stated during the award ceremony that Minnich was initiated on November 27, 1956. Minnich said she likes going to the meetings, talking with the other members, and she has always tried to attend each gathering.
“It was a surprise to me and my daughter told me that it was going to happen,” said Minnich. “She let the cat out of the bag; she knew,” said Purkey.”
Today‘s award ceremony took place at the Carr Center Incorporated located on Beverly Avenue.
