‘Freedom Fund Banquette’ and 180 years of Service

N.A.A.C.P. host’s their annual ‘Freedom Fund Banquette’
This is the 48th Annual ‘Freedom Fund Banquette’ hosted by N.A.A.C.P. The banquette’s Saturday November 5, 2016 at Bryan’s Place starting at 6:30 P.M. President Kenneth Burke says guest speaker Sam Martin, a former Zanesville resident will be attending along with other local leaders.
“We really look forward to it because it brings a lot of the community together and they come out,” said Burke. “We try to hold our banquette the Saturday before election because it also brings out the candidates.”
The N.A.A.C.P. is presenting two awards. The first award is the Muskingum County Image Award with the recipients being Kathy Brantley, Ron Branson, Lionel Watiker, Justine Sowers. The second award is Foot Soldier In the Sand Award presented to Kenneth Burke. Ticket Sales for the ‘Freedom Fund Banquette’ end tomorrow.
Also the Union Baptist Church in Downtown Zanesville is celebrating their 180 years of fellowship. Burke says a few churches joined together to create one congregation in 1836.
“We have been in this area all those years and this building it’s self was established in 1893 and so we’re still standing,” said Burke.
Burke says everyone is invited to the anniversary service on November 13, 2016 with service starting at 11:00 A.M. The Union Baptist Churches previous pastor will lead the service in honor of its anniversary.
