ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Salvation Army needs the community’s help.

The organization is in desperate need of thanksgiving fixings, especially turkeys for their annual holiday meal. Head Chef, Bill Gheen said typically they would have at least a few turkeys donated by now. And that’s why they are worried. He said the need for food in Muskingum County is growing.

“We see so many,” Gheen said. “They are so thankful that we do this. So many probably don’t even have anything for thanksgiving.”

Last year, The Salvation Army used 57 turkeys to feed more than 1,000 people.

“You can smell the turkey miles away. People come in the door and say oh your turkey smells good. We really are in need,” Gheen said.

The Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving Dinner will be served on Wednesday November 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
