ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Daylight savings time ends Sunday, which means you’ll need to remember to set your clock back an hour before going to bed Saturday night.

The official time change is at 2 a.m. EST.

Zanesville Fire Department also suggested the community check not only their clocks, but their smoke detectors as well.

“That’s the time to change your smoke detectors,” said firefighter Thad Krause. “Check the batteries in them, change the batteries out.”

Krause suggested to vacuum it out as well and make sure to check the label and check that everything is in working order.

ZFD recommends to replace smoke detectors every ten years.

“Basically smoke detectors save lives, your nose goes to sleep but your ears stay awake,” said Krause. “We have had houses where smoke detectors have actually helped people get out in the middle of the night.”

If you have any questions about smoke detector safety you can call the Zanesville Fire Department at (740)-455-0714.
