Muskingum Names Donathan Head Volleyball Coach
NEW CONCORD – Muskingum University has named Hallie Donathan head volleyball coach.
Donathan arrives in New Concord after a highly-successful three-year stint as assistant coach for the NCAA National Runner-Up Wittenberg University Tigers. She helped lead Wittenberg to the 2015 National Championship contest and a remarkable 29-3 record. The Tigers ended the year ranked second in the nation. Under Donathan’s tutelage, Wittenberg claimed three straight North Coast Athletic Conference Championships (2013, 2014, 2015) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament each season.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Hallie Donathan to Muskingum,” said Muskingum Athletic Director Larry Shank. “Hallie was successful as a player and a coach, and we are excited about her translating her successes to Muskingum.”
Donathan, who graduated from Wittenberg in 2013 with a B.A. in biology, was a four-year standout setter for the Tiger volleyball program. She helped lead the team to the 2011 NCAA National Championship and four straight NCAC conference titles and NCAA postseason appearances. Donathan currently ranks ninth in career assists at Wittenberg.
“I am very excited to start my first head coaching experience at a storied institution like Muskingum,” said Donathan. “I feel honored to take over such a legendary program. I am looking forward to working with this already talented team, and I know I will learn just as much from them as they will from me.”
In addition to Donthan’s solid collegiate coaching experience, she served as the head coach of the New Carlisle Tecumseh High School volleyball in 2013, where she led them to a 14-10 overall record and 5-5 mark in the Central Buckeye Conference.
