Sobriety Checkpoint Friday

Ovi Check

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that a sobriety checkpoint will take place in Guernsey County, Friday evening.

The checkpoint is funded through federal grant funds and is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

State Patrol Lieutenant J. Tracy said there were 360 OVI related fatal crashes in which 395 people were killed last year in Ohio.

Each year troopers make on average 25,000 OVI arrests.

The exact location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning.
