On Veteran’s Day community members are walking the streets of Zanesville to support those that have served our country.

The Second Annual ‘March for Vets’ is Friday November 11, 2016. Justin Smith the founder of the march said he’s raising donations for the Military Muscle foundation for P.T.S.D. awareness and Suicide prevention since each day 22 veterans will commit suicide.

“Well I’m a veteran myself; so I wanted to keep trying to help out with the local veterans,” said Smith. “The big thing with the military muscle foundation is they have big awareness for taking fitness events and going into try to raise awareness for P.T.S.D. and [suicide prevention].”

Smith said that last years ‘March for Vets’ raised $1,300 in donations and this year he hopes to double in donations and participation.

“It just became a big thing, we had like 35 people do the walk last year that showed up so it was good,” said Smith. “I actually had people from my first deployment 11 years ago show up to it, so it was pretty cool seeing them. I didn’t even know they were coming.”

The march will start at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 9:00 A.M. and finish at the Colony Square Mall. For more information on the walk contact Justin Smith at (740) 891-0006 or through Facebook.
