Bishops facing familiar foe in third state tournament appearance

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Rod Gibson’s Rosecrans Bishops are making a return trip to the D-III boys soccer state semifinal Wednesday night and will battle defending champion Summit Country Day at Hilliard Bradley High School.

The Bishops faced off against the Silver Knights in 2015, dropping a 4-0 decision at the same location. Summit went on to win the state championship, 9-0.

This is Rosecrans’ third trip to the state tournament. The Bishops made their inaugural appearance in 1987, losing to eventual champion Chagrin Falls Kenston.

The Silver Knights have won three of the last four D-III state titles.

LADY ACES FALL IN STATE SEMIFINAL

LONDON, Ohio – The Granville Lady Aces failed to make it back to the D-II girls soccer state championship, falling to Kettering Archbishop Alter Tuesday night, 2-0.

The Lady Knights scored one goal in each half, including an insurance goal with four minutes to play. Granville finishes its season with a 13-7-2 mark.
