Maysville Middle School Honors Veterans

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Maysville Middle School students started their day by honoring area veterans.
They read essays, sang patriotic songs, and ate breakfast with 58 veterans.
“We have 523 middle students here,” Principal Erik Winland said. “Every student had a part in this. What you saw was the band, chorus, and students perform. But every kid wrote essays about how great a veteran is and what that meant to them.”
The goal of breakfast is to show area veterans how much they are appreciated.
“It is very humbling for me as a grandson of two veterans, to see all these people, to talk to them, and shake their hand,” Winland said.
Principal Winland said Thursday’s breakfast was so successful that it will be an annual event.
