Afternoon Fire Claims Home on Pine Street

The Zanesville Fire Department said a home on Pine Street is considered a total loss.

Crews were dispatched to 768 Pine Street just after 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Chief Waltemire said upon arrival they discovered heavy flames coming from the first floor of the structure. The flames were able to spread up to the attic of the home. Waltemire said it was a devastating burn that took about an hour to control and the home is a total loss.

The owner was not home and the Red Cross has stepped in to help.

The Zanesville Fire Department was assisted by the South Zanesville Fire Department and Genesis Community Ambulance.
