Burning Body Investigated in Zanesville

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating the discovery of a burning body in downtown Zanesville. Zanesville Police Captain Doug Merry says it happened Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. at 40 North 6th Street on the side porch of Central Presbyterian Church. The name of the victim, who is thought to be homeless, was not released. Police did not say if there were any other injuries to the body other than burns. The body was transported to the Licking County Morgue for an autopsy. Captain Doug Merry says the incident will be treated as a homicide until detectives can prove it otherwise.
