The Annual Farmer’s Share Breakfast

The place to get biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, and a drink for only a buck Saturday was at Zanesville High School.

The Ohio Farm Bureau held its Annual Farmer’s Share breakfast Saturday morning. The breakfast took place in the Zanesville High School cafeteria, and the meal was prepared by Muskingum County Farmers and the Students of FFA. Kari Burkey said there are two different messages with the idea behind this breakfast.

"One of those is an opportunity to share the farmers message with community member who wants to come out and enjoy delicious breakfast and also the amount of money that a farmer gets for the products produced on their farm are relatively low so the price for the meal is a dollar and that is equivalent to what the farmer would receive for all of the products going into this meal," said Kari Burkey, Organization Director, Ohio Farm Bureau.

President of the Tri-Valley FFA Chapter, Lane Heil said his parents were a part of the Ohio Farm Bureau and they would also help out with this event, so it feels good for him to be able to continue this tradition.

"It’s great, I love giving back, this community has given me so much throughout the years and I just love the idea of being able to give back to them and help out and do as much as I can around," said Lane Heil.

The proceeds from this event will go directly to the farm bureau to help bring awareness to the community.
