ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The John McIntire Public Library hosted a Harry Potter theme family day Saturday afternoon.

People were encouraged to dress up as their favorite Hogwarts character. This event featured activities, games, and crafts.

“They kids were able to come and do Hogwarts classes,” Reference Librarian, Amanda Pigford said. “We had stations like every Hogwarts class. They did a lot of activities were science based or critical thinking based. There was also a book area that they could come check out new books from. There’s a photo booth and snack area that we turned into the three broom sticks from one of the movies. We had a large group activity that they could do there too.”

Pigford said she’s very please with the turnout today. She expressed her gratitude for the volunteers who chose to spend their Saturday at the library.

“We had a really cool volunteer turnout to make all of this happen. There’s only three of us that are actually getting paid to do this.We have 20 volunteers that comes from all walks of life. One is a chemist. One is a preschool teacher. One is a special ed teacher. It was really neat to see everyone come add all their talents to make something like this possible,” Pigford said.

Pigford said this event was inspired by the new JK Rowling movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
