Shots Fired in Newark Home
Newark Police said that one man is in custody following a report of shots fired inside of a home on Moull Street.
Authorities said that a female resident called police and reported hearing several gun shots coming from the bedroom of 75-year-old Gary Lint.
Officers attempted to make contact with Lint and received no answer. The Police Special Operations Group tactical team and crisis negotiations team were called to the scene to assist in making contact. Authorities were able confirm Lint was in the home with the use of electronic surveillance equipment. But, Lint refused to acknowledge officers.
The Special Operations Group then entered the home and located Lint in his bedroom, where he had gone back to sleep. At least one firearm was located in bed with Lint. It was discovered that at least four shots were fired from inside his own bedroom.
Lint had no injuries and cooperated with police after being taken into custody.
Charges will be reviewed against Lint.
Nearby residents were asked to remain in their homes during the incident.
