Well Known Zanesville Businessman Dies
A well known Zanesville businessman has died. Bill Randles passed away early Sunday morning. Following his military service Randles recognized that the fledgling cable television industry presented opportunities and he started a cable career that spanned 45 years.
Randles worked to secure cable franchise rights in Zanesville in the 1960’s, then supervised construction, and management of what was known as Better TV of Zanesville. His career included an ownership interest in cable systems in six states, but the Zanesville system remained part of his life until he retired from Time Warner in 2002.
Bill was also active in the community that included being a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and the Zanesville Rotary Club. He was also a founding member of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. He also won many local leadership awards.
Calling hours are set for Thursday at Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at North Terrace Church of Christ. Randles, who was 82-years-old, will be buried at Zanesville Memorial Park with full military honors.
