Bomb Squad called after explosive found in Zanesville home

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – An explosive was discovered in a Zanesville home and force the Columbus Bomb Squad to investigate.

According to Sheriff Matt Lutz with the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office his department received a call around 6 p.m. Monday evening of a bomb found in a home. The residents of a home in the 1600 block of Sharon Avenue, just west of White Oak Avenue, were remodeling the home when they discovered the explosive in the basement. They removed the explosive from the home and called the Sheriff’s Office who called the Columbus Bomb Squad.

The Columbus Bomb Squad came to Zanesville to investigate and safely removed the bomb from the area and held on to it to diffuse it. Nobody in the area was evacuated from their home and Sheriff Lutz said they area is now safe and secure.
