College Planning Day
If your a high school student looking to further your education there’s no better time then the present to start preparing.
The Nelson T. Gant Foundation hosted a college planning work-shop for area students who are going to college in the fall as well as students who may be uncertain and just might need a little help with planning their next big step.
"The younger you start, the better planning that you have the better prepared students feel when you go off into your college experience. You feel more confident in what your doing and the decisions that you are making as apposed to I just woke up today and decided to go to college," Keisha Norris, Academic Adviser for Miami University.
As a mother of two, Nancy said the parents involvement in preparing for their child next step in life is just as important as the students.
"I think a lot of parents of students of color may not be that involved because, they themselves may not have gone to college but, that doesn’t make them less resourceful. They should be involved as much as they possibly can. I they don’t know something, ask," said Nancy Edwards- Grady, Education Board Member, Nelson T. Gant House.
If you were unable to make it out today you can stop by the Gant House to pick up a folder with educational information inside at any time.
