Zanesville Mental Health Advocate Dies

A longtime mental health advocate in Zanesville has died. Thomas Quinn passed ways at 89-years-old on Monday. Quinn served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during 1945 and 1946. He also was a 20 year member of St. Thomas Church, working on behalf of the Boy Scouts, the Knights of Columbus, little league football, the St. Thomas Festival and Zaney Follies. He also worked at Armco Steel for 38 years. But he and his wife Margaret were best known for their efforts to help the mentally ill and their families starting a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in 2000. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home in Zanesville where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:45 PM with family remarks. Mr. Quinn’s funeral is Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Quinn will be buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
