ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local organization is looking to help recent college graduates gain workplace experience and help the community at the same time. Scholarship Central is now accepting applications for AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides Positions.

AmeriCorps serves as advisors and mentors for schools and community centers. This is an 11 month full-time position beginning on August 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.

“Basically they are working with our local high school and middle school students, helping them with the college application process, helping them figure out what they want to do after high school,” said Scholarship Central Educational Assistant Katie McCarty.

AmeriCorps is looking for people who want to make a difference. McCarty said they will interview everyone who submits an application.

“We are trying to make the process much quicker than in previous years. We are hoping to get some applications in this month. Hope to do some interviews by the end of next month. And be able to offer the position by the beginning of May,” said McCarty.
