Planet Fitness to Open in Zanesville

A new destination for fitness is set to take root in the Zanesville area.

Currently under construction, Planet Fitness will join the Colony Square Mall in June and they’re offering a special price for new members in the Y-City.

Beginning April 25, it costs just one dollar to join and $10 a month for a basic membership with no commitment necessary and if you decide to sign up with a ‘PF Black Card Membership’ you get even more perks for just $19.99 a month.

“With the black card you’re going to get use of all the fitness stores nationwide,” said Managing Partner Mark Christie. “You’re going to get a guest pass. Every time you come into the club you can actually bring in somebody with you for free. You get unlimited use of our indoor tanning. We have six indoor tanning beds. We also feature what we call our total body enhancement, you’ll have access to that. You’ll have access to what we call our hydro-massage beds.”

Christie said the franchise is excited to offer another option for exercise in the area. The 17,000 square foot space will feature over 80 pieces of cardio to choose from.

“When we looked at this market years ago we found that it was just under served,” said Christie. “The other thing that’s nice about Planet Fitness is we really focus on just general fitness. It’s something we call the ‘judgment free zone,’ what that means, the club itself is not catered towards the serious athlete, powerlifter, bodybuilder. It’s more geared toward people that are either looking to get into to fitness for the first time or back to fitness. So it’s a really laid back environment which we feel would be good for Zanesville. ”
