ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The John McIntire Library is hosting an array of events this month.

With the help of Dollar General’s Literacy Foundation, the library is able to fund new projects. The first one is the “Battle of the Books” which is set this Thursday, April 14th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium.

“They will answer questions about five books that they have all read. And this is to promote literacy, get them excited about reading. And some additional benefits we’ve seen is critical thinking,” said John McIntire Library Assistant Director Blair Tom.

On April 26th the library will host a book launch and signing. Sophomore students at Zanesville High School in Mrs. Lee’s honors class have written narrative nonfiction stories based on interviews they conducted.

“They will share readings from that book. And also have copies of the book available and they’ll have a book signing. Certainly, we encourage the public to come to that program as well. And just today we received iPad minis that will be apart of a project that will launch next fall,” said Tom.

Each of these events are free and open to the public. For more information contact the John McIntire Library at (740) 453-0391.
