Final Week to Sign Up for Angel Tree, Coats for Kids Programs

ZANESVILLE, OH – Christmas may still be a few months away but some of Santa’s Elves are already hard at work.
This week marks the final week for sign-ups for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree and Coats for Kids Programs.
George Bates, the Envoy at the Salvation Army, says all you have to do is come in, grab an application, take it home, fill it out, and then bring it back to the Salvation Army.
“They’ll get a date to bring it back.” Bates said. “They’ll bring it back all filled out, we’ll give them a scheduled time, they will return on the day of the distribution. Which for the Angel Tree will be December 17th and 18th.”
Bates says they are fortunate to be able to provide Christmas presents for the youth in our community every year.
He says that his favorite part is seeing the smiles on the kids and parents faces on distribution day.
“What I found in the 20 plus years of doing this is to help the kids but it helps me, personally.” Bates said. “Anybody that gets involved in this, it’s just a blessing and that’s just the truth. It’s more than just a ‘Oh I feel good for helping somebody.’”
If you are interested in signing up for the Angel Tree or Coats for Kids Program, you can stop by the Salvation Army any day from 9:30 AM to 3PM until the end of the week.
