Chamber of Commerce Economic Dashboard Update

The economic dashboard is a service that the Chamber of Commerce provides in partnership with the Library System and ITrack LLC that provides recent data on the state of the economy.

Tom Poorman, President at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce talked to us about the dashboard in depth on Tuesday.

“We collect the most recent statistics that we can on some of our economic indicators such as car sales, real estate sales, and unemployment rates. We then take that information and put it on our dashboard format on our website,” said Poorman.

The dashboard is essential for local business to get the latest update on how the economy is doing, said Poorman. He also talked about some of the positive statistics from recent months.

“New car sales are trending up right now, that includes pick-up trucks too. Building permits are also on the up rise too, it’s been a very positive jump up from last year so that’s a good sign,” said Poorman.

Poorman hopes that the dashboard will become more valuable as time goes on since they will be able to track the local economy more closely.
