Local Artist Draws Ohio State Football Scenes

At the First Friday event in downtown Zanesville there were local artists at all points in their career. Some were receiving awards, while others were displaying their artwork for the first time. Local artist Bobby Shaw was the latter.

Shaw works with pencils as a realist portrait artist. Today was the first time he showed his work publicly and his works primarily focus on Ohio’s most popular football team.

“I just love Ohio State so that’s a given for me,” said Shaw. “People love it and I want to draw stuff people love that draws emotion and that’s art so that’s what I try to create and with Ohio State, people love it.”

Shaw also does graphic design and says that in addition to drawing OSU football scenes he like to draw religious scenes and animals. Today was the first time he showcased his artwork to the public and says it was a memorable experience.

“It’s really exciting for me to show off my artwork. I’m trying to get into the community here in Zanesville and get into the art community, get my name out there a little bit more so people can see my artwork,” said Shaw.
