Suspect arrested after armed robbery at South Zanesville Sheetz

SOUTH ZANESVILLE — A man is in custody after an armed robbery at a South Zanesville gas station Monday night.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 9:25 p.m. at the Sheetz on Maysville Pike.

Investigators say a man entered the store with a handgun, pointed it at the clerk, and took cash from the register before driving off.

An off-duty deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle leaving the scene and reported the license plate.

Deputies arrested the suspect at his home less than an hour later, recovering both the gun and the stolen money.

The suspect is being held in the Muskingum County Jail awaiting formal charges.
