The Greater Zanesville Singers bring “The Colors of Christmas” to the community

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Greater Zanesville Singers are preparing up for their annual Christmas concert, bringing a full evening of color themed holiday music to the community. Their performance, titled “The Colors of Christmas,” takes place Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at Coburn United Methodist Church on Maple Avenue. Admission is free, with a free will offering accepted.
The group was formed in 1987 and is made up of 70 volunteer singers. They present a Christmas concert every year. This year they are blending secular color themed favorites like “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Blue Christmas” with sacred selections that highlight the spiritual meaning of the season.
“I’ve loved music all my life, but the members of the choir are so giving of their time and their talent, and they’re so supportive of one another, we have people of all talent ranges and ages, our youngest member is 10, our oldest member is 96, and they check in with each other, they make sure everybody got home from practice, they’re there when they’re sick, they’re there to celebrate their happy times, so it’s not just the music, it’s the feeling of community is the feeling of a family,” said The Greater Zanesville Singers Director, Kim Peadon.
Rehearsals for this seasonal tradition begin long before the holiday rush.
“It’s always a little intense when you start singing Christmas music in August you feel like you have plenty of time, but then it gets here before we know it, but everyone has worked really hard and they are ready, we are ready to sing for our community,” said Peadon.
As the choir takes the stage Tuesday night at 7 p.m., they hope each song adds a little color to the season.
