Merle Norman Cosmetics in Zanesville Says Goodbye
ZANESVILLE, OH – After more than 40 years of helping Zanesville look and feel its best, one longtime beauty store is saying goodbye.
Merle Norman Cosmetics’ Zanesville location will officially close its doors on Tuesday, June 30th, ending more than four decades in the community.
“Merle Norman’s been a fixture in Zanesville for over 41 years. My mom opened the businesses without any business experience, just the love for a product and the company. She grew this business from the bottom up and did an amazing job. When she was ready to retire after about 20 years, I was able to step into her shoes. Those were big shoes to fill.” Merle Norman Cosmetics Owner, Sharon Shaner said.
After about another 20 years, Shaner says she’s decided it’s time to step back. She hoped to find someone to purchase the business and continue serving customers in Zanesville, but when that wasn’t possible, she made what she calls the most difficult business decision she’s ever made; merging the Zanesville studio with the Marietta location.
Before closing, the store is inviting the community to a Customer Appreciation Event from June 25th through the 27th.
“We’re encouraging all of our customers to come in, visit, and stock up on products. By doing so, you can earn some free things. Everyone will get a treat, and we’re hoping to have as many people come in to visit and let us spend time reminiscing and just enjoying each other’s company.” Shaner said.
