ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local organization is being proactive to ensure the people they serve will have a meal even in

Christ’s Table has been putting together “blizzard boxes”. They are given to the home bound. Mark Anderson has been a volunteer driver for Christ’s Table for three years and said he really enjoys meeting the people that Christ’s Table serves.

“Mostly elderly folks that just can’t get out and around, it’s a pleasure to meet them,” Anderson said. “That’s makes this job some much more fun. Generally, we can get out in some pretty bad weather, but if they shut us down for the day than this is a meal they can have available to them until we can start making deliveries again.”

The blizzard boxes consists of non perishable food items like peanut butter, soup, spaghetti, and noodles. Christ’s Table relies mainly on donation and volunteers to provide the free meals.

“This is quite an operation for a town like Zanesville. This is an excellent kitchen to serve the unprivileged in this town,” Anderson said.

Since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year Christ’s Table will be closed, but they will be serving dinner on Friday and Christmas Eve. Central Presbyterian Church will be serving Christmas Dinner on Sunday, December 25th. The dinner will be served at 5 p.m.
