Intel Update

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio’s business friendly environment is attracting many well-known corporations to establish some pretty lucrative jobs right here.

U.S. Representative Troy Balderson talked about the impact that economic growth will bring to Ohio’s 12th Congressional District.

“The Intel project is moving forward,” Balderson said. “I think they’re up to the third floor. A lot of investment is still coming that way. You know the project’s been disappointing. Let’s be fair, you know with the setbacks that it’s had. But everything is moving forward now. I’m excited about it, I’m excited for our kids. One of the main reasons I voted for the Chips Act was for the potential for our kids here. For them to be able to get a great paying job right here in their home town and we can keep them here.”

Balderson estimates Intel to initially deliver 3,000 jobs by 2030, with 70 percent of them requiring a 2-year degree, which can be obtained through multiple area vocational education providers.

“We want to keep that momentum going,” Balderson said. “We’ve got Amgen, a pharmaceutical company that just did a $300 Million dollar expansion in the 12th Congressional District up there in Licking County. We have Anduril that just came in Pickaway County, so that was a defense systems set up. So Ohio is on the map and people know we are here and we are ready for economic development.”

Balderson is excited about Ohio becoming a buzz word around the nation that is synonymous with economic opportunity and sees the growth as change for the better.
