ZANESVILLE OH – You’re not having Deja Vu, This Week’s Pet of the Week is Petunia, again!

We told you about Petunia last week, but April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, says she needs to find her forever family soon.

Gibson says she and her staff go above and beyond for all of the animals in their care every single day but sometimes, their love can only go so far.

“She’s a good dog, a plot hound boxer mix, 2-years-old, but she’s struggling here at the Shelter.” Gibson said. “No matter how good we are here, no matter how good my staff is, how good the animal care manager and our chief veterinarian are, these animals, some of them struggle. She is not shelter dog material, so to speak, when you go by and you see an animal spinning in their kennel, licking the back of the kennel, or licking the glass, she’s struggling even with medication, so we’ve got to get her out, we’ve got to find her a good home.”

Gibson says Petunia has an easy going attitude, does well with everyone she meets, and would do well in just about any home.

She also wanted to thank the community for their support during the $17.76 Cat Adoption Special in July and their rolling out a new one for the month of August.

“The 17.76 [Adoption Special], it was successful! Getting animals into good, solid homes is what’s important to us, you know they’re spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, that’s our dogs and our cats.” Gibson said. “So $20 for any age feline, kitten or adult, that’s going to be the price for August, don’t forget We Lov Pets is our local pet store that we partner with, we have felines up there as well.”

Gibson also wanted to remind the community that the Animal Shelter Society will be closed to customer service during Fair Week, August 16th through August 24th.
